Basant

The kite flying festival of Pakistan, it is held annually every spring to celebrate the beginning of the season. In addition to kites, visitors can enjoy local food, folk art, dancing and music. Kites are also flown throughout the night, lighting up the sky in a very unique fashion.

Mela Chiraghan

Also referred to as Mela Shalimar or the “Festival of Lights”, this is a three-day annual festival to mark the anniversary of the death of Shah Hussain. The event is held at the shrine of Shah Hussain, just outside of Lahore and adjacent to the Shalimar Gardens. It was previously the largest festival in the Punjab, but is now second to Basant.
